Project: Impact of Sexism and Gender-Based Violence on the Situation of Women in Mixed-Gender Prisons
Goals of the project:
The general objective of this study is to analyze the situation of women in mixed penitentiary centers and how sexism and gender violence can affect them. Therefore, we will seek to understand the specific conditions in which women find themselves within these centers, including aspects such as their access to resources, services, medical care, rehabilitation programs and educational and work opportunities.
The specific objectives are as follows:
- Identify the manifestations of sexism and gender discrimination in the penitentiary system according to the perception of women in mixed centres.
- Evaluate the impact of sexism of inmates and the penitentiary environment on the experience of women in prison.
- Collect the manifestations of women in mixed centres to generate a report with recommendations to improve their situation.
- Disseminate the results of this study among those responsible in the Penitentiary Administration.
