Project: Analysis of femicides in Castilla La Mancha to improve the protection of victims

Goals of the project:

The purpose of this study is the analysis of femicides, the most serious cases of gender violence in Castilla La Mancha, in order to improve assistance and protection resources in this region.

The number of femicide cases -both committed and attempted- that occurred in the Community of Castilla La Mancha since 2010 will be evaluated to have a deep understanding of personal characteristics, modus operandi and risk factors. These cases will be also monitored through the different phases of the criminal process in order to find dysfunctions of the system.  It is also intended to have an in-depth analysis of  the personal journeys of women who have survived an attempted murder by their partners. The purpose of this is to offer recommendations for the improvement of women detection and protection systems  taking into account the failures detected in the system, the offender risk factors and the victim risk perception.
